Just had 2 nights stay at the pub - very comfortable, homely room. Staff and owners very friendly and welcoming. Good pub food, hearty breakfast and excellent service. Nothing was... read more too much trouble during our stay.
Oh and for those that are concerned the place was very Covid secure - mask wearing etc was politely enforced. The tables were well spaced out, which I like anyway, and were sanitised between customers. Full table service i.e. no bar service.
Would have no hesitation in staying there again.
My parter and I recently spent two nights at the Duke of Cumberland in Barham.
The food was excellent, the room very clean and comfortable and all the staff... read more were helpfull and friendly, with Hatty and Zaf in particular going the extra mile in making this a very pleasurable stay.
Thank you again.
We have visited this pub so many times but not in recent years. New owners and they have worked hard to make a big difference. V friendly and nothing too... read more much trouble.Enormous fish and chips, melting ribs and v ‘ Turkish ’ kebabs.
Forgot there is also a private dining room out back for about 10 and they have 3 rooms for B n B. We had played golf at Broome park and it’s literally a 5 minute drive .lots of outside space and following all COVID procedures. Lovely village pub with rear parking
The Duke of Cumberland is a quintessential country pub situated in the beautiful village of Barham Kent.
Built in Circa 1749 the Inn takes its name from The of Cumberland commander of the English army what put down the Jacobite rebellion in 1746.
The Duke used the surrounding Area to train the troops.
The Inn has since changed but still keeps its identity as something of a national treasure in providing a relaxed atmosphere to relax and unwind whilst basking in the beauty of the Elham valley.
In May of 2019 it welcomed a new family whom are now lucky enough to be able to call The Duke home.
Hatty and Zaf and their three children have taken the Inn to a new level.
Offering everything you would expect from an English Country Inn but with an unparalleled dining experience which has taken the Duke Head and shoulders above the rest.
